February 19, 2011

Nothing significant happened in my personal life today as I lay on the couch most of the day whining about my sore leg muscles from working in the shed yesterday.

I watched a lot of television and was able to find some good stuff on Create Tv. A good documentary of the actions of the historic “John Brown”, the abolitionist who became what today would be called a terrorist. While in Kansas he murdered whites that were pro-slavery and he was hanged. But he was remembered in a song for many years to come, a song that I remember hearing as a child, entitled “John Browns’ Body Lies Molding in the Grave”. I remembered it as “molding in the clay”. Maybe I remembered it because my uncle was another John Brown.
The News is reporting another Mid-eastern country having large demonstrations in an effort to overthrow the Libyan leader, Moammar Gadhafi. The country has blocked all news media and other sources are reporting widespread violence against the demonstrators. This following the removal of the Tunisian president and uprisings in Bahrain, Yemen and the Egyptian protesters calling for rapid changes after the over throw of the Mubarak regime, and Syrian citizens calling for “a day of rage” via Facebook and other social networks. The citizens of Wisconsin are also demonstrating, both pro and con for the governors’ solution to the states budget deficits.
Brought my saved Smuckers jelly jars up from the basement to decorate, but they are still on the table to be done. Spent nearly three hours on the post for my other blog, crocheted a little and watched more TV.
